The fright of every jobseeker
YouTube has provided us with a lot of "dos and don'ts for a job interview" videos. No jobseeker would know which one to watch! Luckily they all mention more or less the same tips. I picked out "How to ace a job interview", because it gives you 4 useful and easy-to-apply guidelines.
First of all, don't chew gum, smoke or drink during an interview. Normally everyone knows that these are big mistakes to make. Your first impression should stick, just not litterally!
Secondly, dress appropriately. Your clothes should match the job you want to get and reflect professionalism. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Third, don't be late. This is a very crucial item. Being late is the same as saying you had something beter to do than attend the interview.
Four, take your resume and make shore it is up to date. And whatever you do, don't lie!
Applying these tips doesn't guaranty you'll get the job, but makes shore you won't get thrown out !

You definitely won't get the job just by using these tips. These are basically standard elements, that a serious candidate will apply all by himself. Any candidate knows not to go to a 'directors assistant' job interview in a torn jeans and a dirty sweatshirt. How naïve can you be, thinking they'll hire you anyway because of your master degree and 10 years of experience? Presentation is everything!
The company doesn't only want to hire someone with the right skills, it also wants you to have a nice personality, an own opinion, a team spirit and so on. Employers don't hire resumes, they hire people. A lot of career men - and women, of course - seem to forget that sometimes. They think their resume will do all the work for them. Don't think you're thát much better than the graduate sitting next to you in the hall, waiting for an interview as well. You might have all of your experience, but he ... he has that little something extra, you know? The enthusiasm with which he talks about his passion and commitment... And next thing you know, he gets the job. Not because he applied all the YouTube tips so nicely, but because he exposed himself, showing who he really is. The YouTube tips aren't worthless, that's not what I'm saying. I just think they are not the most important ones. So, instead of copying the YouTube guidelines, I'll give you my own brilliant tips to ace an interview :
1. Be yourself. That includes not lying. Talk about your passion for the job, the company, the sector.
2. Be confident. Try not to be nervous, the interviewer is also only human, he won't bite. Be kind and friendly. Worst case scenario? You don't get called back.
3. Be prepared. It is scientifically proven that interviewers ask thé most annoying questions, so you must be prepared to answer all of them. Have a sincere respond ready.
Now go ahead, get ready for your interview. Prove to the world that it is NOT the most horrible thing to have to do. Face your fear ... and concur it!

I watched the youtube video and honestly, everything this woman says is quite logic! These are things we all know and what we really need to know before a job interview are more details. We all know we shouldn't show up late, drunk, light a smoke or wear a miniskirt! This is just common sense! In the end she says that if you stick to these rules, you'll definately get the job. I think there's a little more to it than that! You should definately stick to these rules, but also focus on possible questions they could ask you and how to sell yourself! But these are of course things that nobady can predict. I guess we'll all experience this when the time comes...
